STF/12: AN UNRIVALED LEVEL OF SECURITY

The STF/12 was designed around the idea that operators will have intensive and very demanding use of their weapon. They must therefore be able to count on a level of resistance of the weapon without equivalent on the market; the following tests confirm this.

OBSTRUCTED BARREL TEST

The objective of this test is to guarantee that if a projectile remains blocked in the barrel, the successive firing of a new cartridge will not cause the barrel to break, thereby risking injury to the operator's hand ( handguard grip area)
The test was conducted with a Brenneke-type ammunition with the bullet immobilized in the barrel at a distance of 160 mm from the chamber rim.

RESULT: The firing of a new cartridge (of the same type) only generated a deformation of the barrel tube at the place where the bullet was blocked, but without tearing or bursting of the latter. This means that there is therefore no risk of injury to the hand for the operator!

C.I.P. TEST

All STF/12 rifles are individually tested according to the protocol of the CIP (Permanent International Commission).

The test consists of firing two 12/76 mm cartridges which have been specifically cartridged to develop a pressure at least 25% higher than the maximum authorized CIP pressure of 1050 BAR for magnum cartridges manufactured and sold on the market.

After these two shots, the Italian National Proof House carries out a precise control of the firearm according to the protocol provided by the CIP. These controls combine dimensional controls using different standardized calibers and visual controls. The positive proof test thus completed, the specific punches are then applied to the frame, the breech and the barrel of the STF/12.

EXCLUSIVE TEST 1630 BAR

FABARM has agreed with the Italian National Proof House of Gardone Val Trompia to submit the STF/12 rifle to an additional overpressure test. While for the CIP the high pressure test in caliber 12 is carried out at 1320 BAR, the STF/12 rifles are subsequently tested with a cartridge developing an overpressure of 1630 BAR. This test successfully passed, a specific 1630 BAR certificate is drawn up and delivered with each STF/12. FABARM is the only manufacturer to have defined such a test protocol.
