Solar Panel Installation Tips

Adjust the angle of the mounting bracket so that the solar panel faces the sun, in an unshaded location. Typically, in the northern hemisphere, this means the panel faces south.

Ideally, the panel should be installed with a 45 degree tilt.

Do not install the solar panel where sunlight may be blocked from reaching the panel.

The quality of sunlight plays a big role in how quickly the internal battery charges. In case of cloudy skies, the charging time will be longer. The more intense the light, the faster the charge.

Connecting the solar panel to a camera trap

Plug one end of the output cable into the solar panel's output jack (OUT) then plug the other end of the output cable into the external power jack on your camera trap.

It is strongly recommended to install batteries in the camera trap even when it is connected to the solar panel. Otherwise, the camera trap may stop working due to lack of power. In case of intensive use of the trap, the battery of the solar panel may not charge quickly enough and, therefore, it is recommended to put batteries in the camera trap for optimal operation.

Charging the solar panel battery

It is recommended to fully charge the internal battery of the solar panel before using it. The battery can be charged using solar energy or mains power.

Charging with solar energy: For best results, place the solar panel in direct light. The quality of light plays a big role in how quickly the battery charges. In case of cloudy skies, the charging time will be longer. The more intense the light, the faster the charge.

Mains charging with the power supply (not included): connect the power supply to the input socket on the solar panel then plug it into a mains outlet to start charging.
